Seductive Italian Juice
The idea for a Pantelleria Perfume came about on the night of 31 December 1997, when a group of faithful habitués of Pantelleria, the black pearl of the Mediterranean Sea, were looking for a way to pay tribute to this egoistic, bewitched island that will obsess your senses.
During dinner that evening at Rekhale, in the typical island dwelling called a “dammuso” belonging to the journalist Italo Cucci, the discussion under the starry firmament turned to how to encapsulate the island’s essence, so that it could be taken away on those obligatory absences, when bitter-sweet nostalgia induces the senses to remember the aromas of capers, zibibbo and krug, but above all the fragrances that pervade the cliffs, the paths and the surprising woods hidden away inside the island’s craters. That was how, on that romantic, starlight night, the idea took shape to create a Pantelleria perfume.
From the very beginning, the airy, herbal, balsamic Profumo di Pantelleria was flanked by the princely, romantic, exotic and sensual Jailia.
It didn’t take long to realise that these two perfumes were far more than just “a pinch of Pantelleria to take home to your friends”, as they came to the notice of a very demanding public and seized their imagination as little masterpieces.
The result was the creation of the Profumi di Pantelleria brand, whose policy is to focus all its attention and enthusiasm on alcohol-based perfume products.
More fragrances have since joined the first two and new stories that always convey wonderful emotions are now told by Profumi di Pantelleria, with the charm of their enchanting aromas and in their new bottle, with its pure, modern outlines in warm Mediterranean colours.
Is nature that conquers the island from the wind wand the sea;
It is an incubator for unique plant species;
Is the world’s most unusual vine, which gave birth
to wines such as the one that Goddess Tanit,
with the aid of Aphrodite, gave to Apollo to drink,
so that he would return to Cossyria (the name by which
Pantelleria was known in classical times) to love her.
And ever since then, he has been going returning regularly
with his sun chariot to guarantee the fertile,
Warm embrace so necessary to ripen the grapes used
to make the island’s celebrated passito wine.
A group of friends, a place of untamed peacefulness, a sense of belonging and one of also being alien experienced together in a consuming contrast, a melting-pot of cultures and a nature that refuses to be dominated.
